About Richard Maltz: Richard Maltz (b. 1958) was raised in Randolph, Massachusetts. He earned Bachelor of Music and Master of Music Education degrees from the University of North Texas, and the Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of South Carolina. Richard studied composition with Dick Goodwin, Robert Ward and Ben Johnston, and has lived in South Carolina since 1989. He is Associate Professor of Music at the University of South Carolina Aiken, where he teaches music theory and composition, world music and percussion. Dr. Maltz has had numerous commissions and performances of his orchestral, vocal and chamber compositions.
