Piano Concerto

Piano and orchestra

A three-movement neo-classical work.

The first movement is cast in traditional sonata form with dramatic and expressive themes. A syncopated, dotted rhythm in 6/8 meter pervades the entire movement. The second movement is slow and sentimental broad melodic phrases. The closing sonata-rondo has light, bouncing rhythms, a fugato section, and a virtuosic cadenza. Piano Concerto was premiered in 2018 by the composer’s son Daniel Adam Maltz.
